vision and giving sunday

In Genesis 26, Isaac is led through a contested journey and arrives at a wide-open space—a place where he can settle and flourish. In this place, God says: Do not fear, I am with you. I will bless you. Isaac’s response is to build an altar of worship, pitch his tent, and dig a well.

On Sunday, we explored this passage as a theological reflection on St John’s journey over the past few years and how God has led us into this new chapter. Now, our response is to build an altar of worship, pitch our tent, and dig some new wells. This is the backbone of our vision for this coming season: Love God, Love Each Other, Love Archway. And the mission to achieve it is: Come, Belong, Serve, and Give. Everyone has a part to play in God’s mission—so how will you play yours?

Over the coming months, we’ll explore the vision and mission further, but for now, I’d love to hear your thoughts. As I said on Sunday, this isn’t the final word, but the first step.

If you weren’t there on Sunday:

  • You can view the Vision and Mission with further details on our website here.

  • You are invited to consider serving in the life of the church. More details will follow in the coming weeks, but please email me if there’s a particular area you’d like to serve in or something specific you’d love to see happen.

  • Give. You are invited to prayerfully consider whether you’d like to financially give to God’s mission at St John’s as part of your worship. Financial giving not only keeps the lights on—it fuels God’s mission here. In this new season, we want to invest in our worship ministry and in children, families, and youth ministries (let’s dig some wells of new life!). You can find all the giving details here.
